Proudly serving St. Louis!

When a patient hospitalized in the St. Louis region receives a blood transfusion, there's a good chance it came from a volunteer donor who gave blood with Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.

From its administrative offices in Maryland Heights and Edwardsville, MVRBC coordinates blood collection at our fixed-site Donor Center in Crestwood and on mobile blood drives held throughout the region. Blood drives are held at locations ranging from churches and small businesses to the offices of major corporations, college and university campuses and everywhere in between.

MVRBC is a not-for-profit community blood center that serves as the exclusive provider of blood and components to 85 Midwestern hospitals.

When Kerry and Jeff Houran of O'Fallon went to the hospital for the birth of their first child, they looked Houran familyforward to a routine childbirth. And they did come home with a healthy son, but only after Kerry had serious complications.

Following the birth, Kerry developed a rare blood condition (called TTP) that caused blood clots to form in small blood vessels throughout her body. Her treatment would not have been successful without the many blood components she received.

Kerry and Jeff credit the skill of the doctors and nurses who treated her as well as the volunteer blood donors who provided the blood and components the hospital needed to help save her life.
