The St. Louis blood program was acquired by Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (MVRBC) in 2005, and officially adopted the MVRBC name in June 2006, to establish a self-supporting, full-service community blood program for the greater St. Louis metro area.

MVRBC serves as the exclusive blood provider to SSM Health Care-St. Louis, one of the largest, full-service health care networks in the St. Louis area - a natural partner with a shared commitment to delivering quality patient care.

The St. Louis hospital community has known MVRBC as a reliable supplemental blood supplier for two decades. With local demand for blood increasing remarkably over the past three years and outpacing blood collections in the area, MVRBC has helped stabilize the area’s blood supply.

An administration center in Maryland Heights, MO, provides the foundation and stability to support an expanding community blood program. Enhanced laboratory and technical resources, as well as local inventory capability, guarantee timely delivery of blood products and services to St. Louis area hospitals and patients.
