Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (MVRBC) and Central Illinois Community Blood Center (CICBC) is hosting its first-ever Working to Save Lives combination job/volunteer fair and blood drive on Friday, September 7, and the community is invited to join in the fun! Every day MVRBC and CICBC are working to save lives, and right now it’s looking for more people to join its lifesaving mission: through a job opportunity, as a volunteer, or by donating blood to help patients in need.
“We often hear from our volunteers and employees about how the work that we do greatly impacts their daily lives,” said Amanda Hess, Public and Donor Relations Director at the Blood Center. “Many of us have been touched by blood donation in some way; maybe by a family member or close friend receiving blood products. The work we do makes a huge difference to those patients (and their families) in area hospitals. Together with our community, we are literally helping to save lives every day.”
The first-time event is set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 7 at MVRBC donor centers, located at 3600 16th St., Moline, 5500 Lakeview Pkwy., Davenport and 1320 W. Kimberly Rd., Davenport 3001 Williams Blvd. SW and 4828 1st Ave. N, Cedar Rapids; CICBC donor center, 1999 Wabash Ave, Springfield. The centers will be open regular hours that day for those who would like to donate blood.
