FEEL-GOOD NEWS

We will always Rally for Reid

Last Saturday, our team was proud to sponsor and attend the Rally For Reid Foundation's Gold Heart Gala at St. Ambrose University. The foundation’s work supporting pediatric cancer families and research helps families through hardship and saves lives.

In 2025 alone, Rally for Reid made such an impact:

• 482 blood donations were credited in support of Rally for Reid

• 38 care packages and family date nights delivered

• $66,500 easing families’ financial burdens

• 4,609 meals provided to families during hospital stays at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital

• $55,000 toward pediatric brain tumor research

We’re honored to stand alongside a cause with such heart and impact. If you'd like to donate in honor of Rally for Reid, give group code 4731 at your next donation.

A few years ago, Reid's parents Megan and Bill shared his story with us below.

100 years old, still rolling up her sleeve

Nadene Roberts is an icon.

The Cedar Rapids woman turned 100 last December, and she's living proof that age is just a number. She not only coordinates blood drives at her church she even donates herself, including this one Monday at the Calvary Baptist Church blood drive.

Skye Kelly (Senior Account Manager) brought the treats to help celebrate Nadene, and KCRG showed up to capture her story. Nadene even inspired KCRG staff to donate!

Micaela leaves a legacy

Micaela Brunson ran on the track team, took part in show choir, and made pancakes for her friends in the hallways of Muscatine High School during finals.

And she was a blood donor.

This year marks 10 years since Micaela Brunson took her own life at 16 years old. Since then, her family has found ways to help others who might be struggling. They created Micaela's Hope to encourage mental and physical wellness, and the Brunson family partners with us for blood drives at Kent Corporation, Carver Pump, and more at our Muscatine center.

Micaela's mother Alma shared their story with us last year, explaining how pancakes at blood drives began. Watch the video below!

Pancakes were served at yesterday's blood drive, where Muscatine High School students helped keep Micaela's legacy going. To give in honor of Micaela, use group code 3427 at your next donation.

BLOOD DONORS HAVE HEART

Heart Month is here, but every day cardiac patients count on blood products to help save their lives.

It's what inspired us to create Blood Donors Have Heart, a campaign all about how donors make a difference and the patients they have helped. Learn more about it here: www.bloodcenter.org/heart

Today is National Wear Red Day, an initiative created by the American Heart Association to bring awareness to cardiovascular disease in women. Are you wearing red today? If so, send your selfies to 2-Marketing to be featured on our social media channels!

BLOOD DONORS HAVE HEART

THANK THE DONOR

"I want to Thank You for your blood donation! I am the receiver of your blood. I had bladder cancer surgery in January. They removed several tumors all of which were benign. Praise God. I was brought to the hospital as I ran into complications. I ended up losing a lot of blood. Thanks to your blood, I am forever grateful."

Our Thank the Donor program connects transfusion patients with the donors who helped save their lives. This connection highlights the importance of the work you do every day.
