Millie's Light Lives on
Millie Moo’s story continues through every donation given in her name.
Last Saturday, Millie DeClercq's family and their Port Byron, Illinois, community came together for the very first Millie Moo Blood Drive, created to honor the six-month-old baby who passed away just 19 days after her cancer diagnosis last September.
During her 17 days at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, blood products were part of Millie’s treatment. She received around 20 platelet and blood transfusions as doctors worked to give her every possible chance. Those experiences shaped her family’s understanding that blood is medicine.
Gabriella and Wesley, Millie's mom and dad, created the Millie Moo Foundation to support other families facing pediatric cancer. The blood drive, with more than 50 donors showing up in this small Illinois town, marked the foundation’s first official event. It's our privilege to be part of Millie's legacy.

Celebrating our Heroes for Life
Today is National Law Enforcement Day, but every day we honor our emergency response partners through Heroes for Life.
This initiative is a way to team up for blood drives across our communities with people who understand firsthand the importance of blood donation. Each year we create a limited-edition T-shirt, available in our Rewards Store for 800 points.
It began years ago as "Blue Blood," founded in partnership with C.O.P. S. This week, we've had Heroes for Life blood drives with Illinois State Police, the Dubuque Police Department, and the Decatur Police Department. And our Iowa C.O.P.S. partners continue Blue Blood each January with a weeklong blood drive, as well as a new way to honor fallen officers, with cards we have at all our Iowa donor centers, that highlight their legacy of courage, selflessness, and protection. Check out their story below!
