FEEL-GOOD NEWS

TRAUMA SEASON IS HERE

May is the start of trauma season, and last Friday we teamed up with Wear Orange and Mom’s Demand Action at our Fairview Heights center to help explain why blood donation is so important this time of year.

We're also partnering with Stop the Bleed and SSM for a blood drive on May 21, which is Stop the Bleed Day. It's a chance to teach people how to use tourniquets to prevent bleeding after an injury. And on June 1, we're partnering with Wear Orange at another SSM blood drive in St Louis. Wear Orange is a nationwide anti-gun violence campaign, and all donors will get a limited-edition Wear Orange Give Reds T-shirt.

WE'RE COMMUNITY-DRIVEN

Giving back is in our blood! Just ask our Springfield Donor Relations team, who for years has participated in United Way of Central IllinoisDay of Action. It's a chance to make a difference in our community, and we had a blast!

HONORING FREDDY DZIEWIOR

The community came together for a record-setting day of giving at Reedsburg Area Medical Center, where donors rolled up their sleeves to help save lives. An incredible 65 donors were scheduled - the highest turnout since we've partnered with RAMC.

The event was held in memory of Freddy Dziewior, beloved son of John and Angela Dziewior. John, a member of RAMC’s MRI department, and his family experienced firsthand how important blood donations were during Freddy’s battle with leukemia. By honoring Freddy’s memory through the blood drive, the Dziewior family hopes to inspire others to give blood and make a lifesaving impact for patients in need.

EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION SWEATSHIRTS

Good news: our Employee Appreciation sweatshirts are here! To our dedicated teammates, we appreciate all you do to Put Good Into The World. THANK THE DONOR

The work you do every day makes a difference for patients who count on blood products. And our Thank the Donor initiative is a chance to hear directly from patients who have received blood, like this one:

"Thank you so much for the blood. I have breast cancer and it is causing me to be anemic. It sure helps me have more energy."
