FEEL-GOOD NEWS

More than $30K Reaches Nonprofits through Good Giving

There are so many ways to Put Good into the World.

Blood donors give because they have want to help others. And donors who give with us have the chance to make an even greater impact by donating the value of their Donor Rewards to a nonprofit through our Good Giving initiative.

From March through August this year, donors paid forward more than $30,000 to nonprofits through Good Giving. We've spent the past few weeks distributing Good Giving checks to food banks and animal shelters across our region, all thanks to the generosity of our blood donors.

Read all about it on our blog!

Teenage Vampires Seek Blood at Rock Falls

Ve vant your blood!

We were excited to team up with the Leaders for Life at Rock Falls High School, who partnered with us last week for a fun (and successful!) blood drive! Thirty donors signed up - including 12 first-time donors! - resulting in a fantastic 26 blood donations collected.

Adding a little Halloween spirit to the event, plastic vampire teeth were distributed to donors and students for some spooky fun. The pink vampire teeth in particular turned out to be especially popular, as many students planned to wear them again to that evening’s volleyball game in support of Pink Out for Cancer. We’re always happy to celebrate both the importance of giving back and the power of coming together to support a meaningful cause!

Give Blood, Get Something Back: Donor Reward Store

Have you checked out the Rewards Store lately?

Spooky season is here, and that means a new limited-edition Halloween-themed T-shirt is in the Rewards Store (for just 600 points!).

Blood donors earn points with every donation, and it's just one way we say "thank you" for helping save lives with us. Those points can be used to shop the Rewards Store or donors can donate points back to us.

Check out what you can earn by logging in here!

Thank the Donor

The work you do every day makes this all possible. Every unit of red blood cells that goes out the door to our hospital partners has a green heart tag on it, letting patients know about our Thank the Donor initiative.

Thank the Donor is an online portal where patients and their caregivers can go to send messages of Appreciation to the person whose blood they are actually receiving. It's a powerful tool that puts a face to the patient on the other side of the blood donation.

"Thank you for your generous blood donation I’m using it today. I was a blood donor myself before I contracted cancer three years ago. Thank you again."
Thank the Donor
