ImpactLife 50 year graphicIt’s going to be a Golden Anniversary Year for ImpactLife and the blood donors, drive sponsors, volunteers, employees, and all who support the blood center’s lifesaving mission. We’re planning to celebrate our 50th Anniversary throughout the year. Check www.bloodcenter.org/50 throughout the year for features on blood donors, transfusion recipients, longtime employees, and the hospitals and communities we serve.

Donors can also look forward to seeing 50th Anniversary themed items being incorporated into our 2024 Donor Promotions and Donor Rewards Store. (Did you know Erno Rubik invented his famous cube in 1974? The ImpactLife 50th Anniversary edition is coming soon to our Donor Rewards Store!)

The blood center's founding documents were signed in December of 1974 and a news conference introduced the newly formed Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center in January 1975.

MVRBC BloodmobileImpactLife was established in 1974 with the merger of the Scott County (Iowa) and Rock Island County (Illinois) blood banks. The merger formed Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, which remained the blood center’s name from 1974 to 2021, when leaders announced a new name for the organization: ImpactLife.

Our blood center has evolved to serve more than 125 hospitals and emergency medical service providers in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Over the years, we’ve joined forces with other blood providers in our region, merging with Southeast Iowa Blood Center (2001), Central Illinois Community Blood Center (2010), and Community Blood Services of Illinois (2011). Our name reflects our history and the lifesaving mission we have always had while uniting our entire organization under a single, shared identity.

ImpactLife expresses our mission in action -- yesterday, today, and tomorrow. While much has changed over the last five decades, our commitment to our mission remains the same: Save lives by providing blood products and services to communities in need. We look forward to carrying out that mission long into the future and hope you will enjoy celebrating our 50th Anniversary Year throughout 2024.
