ImpactLife in the news

Reporter (and blood donor!) Shayna Korol published a thorough and well-researched piece on blood donation for Vox on Giving Tuesday. The article quotes no fewer than 11 blood industry contacts, medical professionals, and university researchers to provide a comprehensive overview of the challenges and opportunities embraced by blood providers across the U.S.

ImpactLife is referenced in the article for our recent decision to eliminate the finger prick in pre-donation screening. There are many good reasons for the move to a bloodless screening process, including the positive environmental impact of no longer using 200,000+ sterile lancets, gauze pads, and band-aids per year. Korol's article notes how officials at ImpactLife hope the painless screening process will help improve donor retention and rescheduling rates by providing a more positive experience for new and first-time donors.

Vox published the story on Giving Tuesday to remind readers of this opportunity to support health care in their community and that it doesn't cost money to give. In fact, blood donation can unlock support for other nonprofit organizations through programs like ImpactLife's Good Giving initiative.
