ImpactLife is responding to an immediate need for additional donors to support our region’s blood supply. During the weeks between Fourth of July and Labor Day, projections for blood collection show 600 to 800 fewer donors per week than in the Spring and Fall, representing an approximately 20% decrease in the rate of blood donation. The blood center has added new donor promotions and increased outreach to address the decline.

Throughout the year, ImpactLife has a goal of collecting at least 3600 donors per week to provide a 5- to 7-day supply of all blood types. But the rate of blood donation can drop by as much as 20% during the most challenging weeks of summer. ImpactLife currently has a 1.5-day supply of type O-negative red blood cells and a 1-day supply of type O-positive. Platelet donations from all blood types are also greatly needed.

To help increase the rate of blood donation through September 10, all donors who come to give blood at ImpactLife donor centers or mobile blood drives will receive a voucher to redeem for the donor’s choice of an electronic gift card or an equivalent value contribution to AdoptAClassroom.org. The value of the gift card or contribution ranges from $10 to $50, depending on the donation procedure type and whether the donation takes place at a mobile blood drive or an ImpactLife donor center location (see full details, below).
