Impactlife invites blood donors to join in the blood center's first-ever celebration of “Dogust." A mashup of “dog” and “August,” Dogust is considered the universal birthday for all shelter and rescue dogs, and it's an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the work done by animal shelters and humane societies caring for animals across ImpactLife’s four-state service region of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

During the month of August, ImpactLife will highlight eligible Good Giving partners and encourage blood donors to utilize this option to support nonprofit organizations that care for animals in the communities we serve. The current Good Giving cycle with eligible pet shelters and humane societies (listed below) will conclude on August 30.
“Good Giving is an amazing collaboration with ImpactLife, and it means so much to us,” said Celina Rippel of the Humane Society of Scott County (Iowa). “During the month of August, when you donate blood, you’re able to forward your donor rewards on to us. It’s incredibly impactful for us and the animals in our community.”
Here’s how to get involved:
- Schedule an appointment for blood donation at an ImpactLife donor center or mobile blood drive.
- After donating, check your inbox for an email from our Donor Programs team. This will include instructions on how to select an electronic gift card, earn points to use in the ImpactLife Donor Rewards store, and how to make an equivalent value donation through the Good Giving program.
- Select the Good Giving and choose an eligible animal shelter or humane society from the options provided.
- Animal Protective League of Springfield (Springfield, Illinois
- Gateway Pet Guardians (St. Louis, Missouri)
- Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County (Decatur, Illinois)
- Humane Society of Scott County (Davenport, Iowa)
- Marion County Humane Society (Knoxville, Iowa)
