Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker donated blood today (Thurs., March 21) at an ImpactLife blood drive hosted by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. Gov. Pritzker was among 50 donors who signed up to give blood in Thursday's blood drive.

“It's gratifying for us here in Springfield to have the opportunity to save lives and donate blood,” said Governor J.B. Pritzker. “Together, Lt. Governor Stratton and I were able to join blood donors from all walks of life in our efforts to keep blood available to help save lives at hospitals across Illinois.”

Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton thanked Gov. Pritzker and all of Thursday’s donors and the ImpactLife staff for their support throughout. "Every two seconds someone needs blood, but only 3% of the eligible population actually donate. I encourage everyone to take a few moments out of their day and sign up to make a life-saving donation!"

"Blood Centers across the state are in constant demand for blood products year-round," said Lt. Gov. Stratton. “Hosting a blood drive for state employees is a way to lead by example. I'm proud of every person who donated and changed a life today; the people of Illinois have each other's backs."
