One of the nation’s largest blood drives is set to take place this coming Friday and Saturday (December 10 and 11) at seven locations across the St. Louis region. The KSHE Winter Blood Drive is expected to provide more than 2000 donations and comes at just the right time for the region’s blood supply. Events are scheduled December 10 and 11, with additional blood drives planned for Dec. 16 (Litchfield, Illinois) and Dec. 17 (Eureka, Missouri).

To schedule an appointment for donation, call (800) 747-5401 or schedule online at www.bloodcenter.org/KSHE, or via the ImpactLife mobile app (www.bloodcenter.org/app).

Donations are greatly needed at this time of year to ensure the blood supply is sufficient to meet patient needs during the holiday season, which can be a challenging time for the blood supply. ImpactLife seeks to collect approximately 3600 donations every week to support a five- to seven-day supply of all blood components across its entire service region. While projections for the month of December are significantly below that number, a successful KSHE Winter Blood Drive will help keep the blood supply on pace to meet patient needs.

The KSHE Summer Blood Drive was first held in 1984 to help support the blood supply during this critical time of year. Since that time, the KSHE listening audience has become a reliable base of support for the blood supply during the summer and holiday season, with nearly 5000 listeners participating in the July and December blood drives every year.
