ImpactLife Good GivingBlood donors who supported the ImpactLife "Good Giving" promotion have provided a $6085 donation to River Bend Food Bank. Representatives of the food bank provided a tour of the organization's Davenport, Iowa distribution center for staff and donors from ImpactLife on Tuesday, April 18 and shared information on how River Bend Food Bank supports the charitable food system in eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

The food bank is the food rescue and distribution hub for food pantries and hunger-relief partners in 23 counties. Food insecurity is a reality for 1 in 10 adults and 1 in 7 children within the River Bend Food Bank service area. The food bank estimates the donation from ImpactLife will help provide more than 30,000 meals that will be distributed through its network of partner agencies.

During the holiday season, ImpactLife blood donors were given a voucher to redeem for their choice of an electronic gift card or to donate the same amount to support local food banks in the blood center’s service region. More than 2500 donors directed their support to food banks for a total of $42,185 now being distributed to food banks that serve communities of the ImpactLife service region. (Additional check presentations and tours are scheduled with regional food banks across the blood center's service region.)
