(Sept. 3, 2021 | Davenport, Iowa) – ImpactLife is asking all eligible donors to make an appointment for blood donation to help support the local blood supply and to make products available for use in the region impacted by Hurricane Ida. To schedule appointments for donation, call (800) 747-5401, schedule online at www.bloodcenter.org, or by using the blood center’s mobile app (www.bloodcenter.org/app).

“We currently have less than a 3-day supply of many blood components,” said Amanda Hess, Director, Donor and Public Relations. “In fact, we have less than a one-day supply of O-negative red blood cells. It is critical for everyone who can support the blood supply to step forward and make an appointment as soon as possible.”

In addition to meeting needs for local hospitals, ImpactLife may also be asked to provide blood components for the region impacted by Hurricane Ida. Blood providers in the region affected by hurricane have lost donations due to by blood drive cancellations from power outages and storm damage. “It is our mission to always take care of local needs first,” said Mike Rasso, Director, Sales and Inventory. “So, as we manage these requests, we’ll look at collection forecasts and usage trends, but our community comes first.”
