Overview

2021 was a landmark year for our organization as we united team members, donors, and volunteers across our entire service region under a new name: ImpactLife. Previously, we operated under three different names after mergers between Central Illinois Community Blood Center, Community Blood Services of Illinois, and Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. We are now united under a single name that describes our mission, and this change has also helped increase efficiency and enhance name recognition within our industry and across our region.

While the name change marks the end of an era, our people and mission remain unchanged. In 2021, our teams were successful in fulfilling that mission despite the challenges of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We provided more than 300,000 red blood cell, platelet, and plasma components for the 125 hospitals we serve within our region and for resource sharing partners across the country. We invite you to read our 2021 Annual Report for more information on our name change and to learn about highlights and achievements from an historic year, including:

  • adding nine new service hospitals
  • opening Donor Centers in Decatur, Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin
  • launching our "Thank the Donor" program across our entire service region (and receiving more than 600 appreciative messages from transfusion recipients)
  • introducing the "Red4Life" program to increase diversity within our donor base and better support the needs of patients with sickle cell disease
  • providing COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma through the first quarter of 2021
  • adding new laboratory functions to our facility in Earth City, Missouri
  • supporting the "Love Like Louden" in-center blood drive and 5K run/walk in Muscatine, Iowa
  • continuing to manage the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our employees, volunteers, sponsor groups, and the hospitals we serve
