Winter weather has caused hundreds of lost donations over the weekend. Please give as soon as able. All types are needed, especially universal donors. For those eligible to donate, please find a Donor Center or mobile blood drive near you at www.bloodcenterimpact.org or by calling (800) 747-5401.
Thirty-nine percent of the United States population has O-Positive blood, making it the most common blood type. Hospitals transfuse Type O+ more often than other blood type. Type O+ donors can help change the world by donating double red cells (an automated procedure that takes twice as many red blood cells) and by donating platelets (an automated procedure that takes a little longer but often helps cancer patients).
Type O+ can only receive Type O blood, both positive and negative.
